The Communist Party of Nepal (UML), established in January 1991 through the merger of the Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist) and the Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist–Leninist), has positioned itself as a significant force within the country's political landscape.

Representing the working class of Nepal, the party aims to liberate the nation from the exploitative and oppressive systems of feudalism, bureaucratic capitalism, and imperialism. Its mission is to establish a just, equal, and prosperous Nepal through a multi-party democracy and socialism. Since its formation in 2006, the party has traversed a long history marked by successes and failures, divisions and reunification, as well as achievements and setbacks. Today, it stands as a central pillar within Nepal's democratic and communist movements.
